A gift

My grandmother gave me an antique diamond ring for Christmas. A ring I’ve seen her wear with love for years.

It was designed by my great grandmother (a soft-spoken woman who I never had the chance to meet) for just 500 pesos before WWII.

It’s stunning, elaborate, and priceless. Simply because of the sentimental value it shines on my father’s clan.

I don’t own this ring. I’m simply its caretaker till I can hand it to my own daughter who will then, in turn, hand it to hers.

That is family.
