Staying fit is something I try to take seriously. Granted, it’s not always easy to find the time to hit the gym, go for a run, or take a class. But keeping your body active doesn’t necessarily mean you need to do anything different from your usual routine — you just need to move more.
That’s where the Jawbone UP 24 can help.
This fitness tracker helped me stay active during my entire pregnancy with Nara, ensuring that I didn’t gain more than the correct amount of weight (between 25-35 pounds), it also has helped me sleep better, eat right, and lose almost all of my pregnancy weight in just three months. Here’s how:
The human body is designed to take an average of 10,000 steps a day. The average office worker takes only 3,000. The Jawbone UP will vibrate throughout the day to remind you to move if you’ve been sitting for too long. With it on my wrist, I’m more encouraged to take the stairs, talk to people at work face to face instead of sending emails, and use a standing desk as my workspace. It’s also fun to connect online with your friends and challenge each other to see who can do the most number of steps in a week.
The Jawbone UP will help you track the calories you consume in a day. All you need to do is input the food you ate using their directory (which has almost everything) and it will tell you if you’re going to exceed what your body needs. It also encourages you to input how much water you drink in a day to ensure that your body is well hydrated and able to function properly.
Another favorite feature of mine is the sleep tracker. The UP will report how much of your sleep was REM and if you need to change your routine to improve this. It also has an alarm function which will wake you up in the morning through gentle vibrations. Say goodbye to the annoying iPhone alarm the invades your dreams. Trust me, your partner will be very grateful.
To get your Jawbone UP running, you simply need to plug it into your computer where it will prompt you to open an account on their website and download the App. It takes all of 10 minutes. The UP needs to be recharged around twice a month and is water resistant.
