Ever since he was the tiniest of beings, I made it a point to read to our son. Granted, he was probably just staring at the blurry whirls of color and being lulled by my very tired voice, but my mother did the same for me and I always knew I was going to continue the tradition. I believe the thrill at having new worlds open up to me every night from such a young age is what started me on my love for books; a relationship that I plan to continue till the very end.
Fin’s got a around 10 books in his present library and I have to admit that some of them are getting a tad ‘blah’ (Goodnight Moon is putting me to sleep and I don’t think I’m going to be opening The Gruffalo again till he’s five).
This one by Australian writer Jackie French is my favourite. I can read it to him once a week and it never stops putting a smile on my face. He laughs at my voices and I laugh at the adorable illustrations and the wombat’s naughty antics.
A win-win situation for all.
