_MG_5113Pregnancy is definitely a test on your skin. Your largest organ is stretched to its maximum capacity and then expected to bounce back like a rubber band after the baby is born. I was fortunate enough to not get any stretch marks when I had Fin and though many people say that genetics has a lot to do with it, I believe there are things we can do to help.

  • Gain the correct amount of weight (don’t eat for two).
  • Make sure you’re taking the right pre-natal vitamins and are getting the right amount of zinc (which has been proven to help skin elasticity).
  • Drink a lot of water throughout the day.
  • Moisturize. moisturize. moisturize.

I can’t say the last one enough.  In fact, don’t forget to moisturise even AFTER the baby is born. What you choose to moisturise with is entirely up to you, especially in our tropical climate where you don’t want to feel too sticky. I like rotating the moisturisers I use depending on how I feel. (FYI: You can read more on some of my other pregnancy tips here.)

Palmer’s is one of those brands I’ve loved since I was a teen. It has that classic, warm cocoa butter small that makes you feel like you’ve stepped into a delicious bakery. It’s perfect for nights when I want to feel a little more decadent. Here are three products they’ve devoted to helping expanding moms stretch comfortably.

Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Massage Cream for Stretch Marks: A thick as their massage cream that can help improve the appearance of stretch marks or prevent them from even starting. It’s loaded with Vitamin with Vitamin E, Collagen, Elastin, and Shea Butter and smells like a chocolate cake.

Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula Tummy Butter: A must-have for many women in their bags especially during the maximum stretching months when skin can get itchy. It contains Bio C-Elaste which is widely used for stretch marks during and after pregnancy and weight loss.

Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Firming Butter: Loaded with CQ10, this is a great gift for a mom who just gave birth. This will help the skin go back to its normal size by encouraging the cells to stay firm and healthy.
