Hi, everyone. How was your week?

I spent a good deal of mine accompanying the husband to cheer for our Philippine basketball team as they fought for their place in next year’s Fiba World Cup.

We watched three games and in each one I saw how hard our players fought and how much support their fans gave them. We sat beside old couples who found it difficult to stand and cheer whenever a three-pointer was made, but did so anyway. There were families with children of all ages (including sleeping babies) witnessing the energy firsthand. We once cheered beside this little girl who was yelling so loud and would shout “pasok” with all her heart every single time a shot was going to made.

It was awesome.

The last game we watched live was the one against South Korea, which was the first time in 20 years we’ve beaten them and also qualified us for the World Cup. It was amazing to witness our Filipino heart make history. You can’t put into words how amazing the energy in the stadium was.  Click here if you’d like to see a highlight video of the game.
