Reading to Fin almost every night has taught Carl and I the value of a good children’s story; a story that can touch both child and reader is a rare find, but when discovered it can make for a wonderful lesson.

I was recently offered a chance by Fully Booked to review Red: A Crayon’s Story

IMG_6829.JPGThis is the tale of a little crayon who isn’t the color that his label says he is. His discovery of his actual identity and worth moved me to the point that my eyes seriously got watery while reading it.

IMG_6831.JPG

IMG_6830.JPGIt’s a story about discovering who you really are and not what a “factory” or other people claim you ought to be. It’s about excelling in your own talents and not those that your family and peers think you should be good at.

IMG_6832.JPGIn a world were labels and expectations are put on us from such a young age, this book encourages everyone to look inside and follow your own beat. A lesson both children and parents can benefit from. I can’t recommend this book enough and it’s definitely going in my list of books that I plan to give my godchildren as they grow up.

IMG_6833.JPGNow for the the best part of this post, FULLY BOOKED is offering this book to one of my site’s lucky readers. It’s simple:

This would be a lovely contribution in my pursuit for art and the simple things in life. ❤️

  22. This is the lesson I want to teach my kids, that the world is full of possibilities. That they shouldn’t limit themselves to what people expect them to be.

In this generation where social media dictates what is socially acceptable, it is easy to just follow what is the norm. It is important to teach and guide kids early on to live their lives on their full potential and not be limited by what others dictates them to be.

I would love to read this book to my kids.

  23. Discovering your true self. I badly need this one even though I’m an adult already because I haven’t found the real me; also, this is a good book to share with my nephew and niece. Hopefully, I’ll win.
