Start 2015 right with healthy dishes from Backyard Farms PH: a local company founded by two mothers that believe that everyone deserves a chance to eat food that is beneficial both in taste and nourishment. The brand currently focuses on three wonderful products:
Certified Organic Red or Black Rice: I used to be a fan of brown rice, but my doctor actually recommends red or black as a healthier alternative. And honestly, once you go either route you’ll never look back. Red rice is actually fluffier than brown and black makes the perfect alternative to white in a dark chocolate champorado. Yum.
Tobee’s Apiary Pure Unprocessed Honey: Honey is such an amazing natural product. It never goes bad and can be used to not just sweeten but cleanse and heal the skin. You can taste how raw and fresh this honey is with the tiniest little spoonful in your morning oatmeal or granola mixture. Honey can also be used as a face cleanser. I often like using it in replacement of a morning cleanser, just rub a teaspoonful of dry skin and rinse with water.
Pasture-raised, Hormone-Free, Antibiotic-free Chickens: We love having chicken meals at home, but with all the news on what goes into them, we try to keep it to a minimum. This chicken was a joy to eat and roast. I prepared it with a sinigang rub, a recipe I got from Erica Paredes. Check out her blog and ask her to share the recipe there.
Backyard Farms can be found in Metro Manila, Alabang, Davao, and General Santos. You can contact them here for further details.
