Gentle Birthing Seminar

Last Saturday, I helped host a Gentle Birthing Seminar with Irina Otmakhova of Conscious Birth Manila and Monica Eleazar Manzano of Birthing Beyond.

It was an intimate class where our participants learned firsthand various gentle birthing options that were available to them in the country.

It’s been my promise to help educate soon-to-be parents (whether for their first, second, or third time around) on what choices they have for the births of their children. So whether our couples were planning to deliver at home or in the hospital, whether they wanted to go all natural or wanted some medical intervention, whether it was their first time or they wanted to work towards a VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarean), Irina and Monica shared various ways that they could have the birth of their dreams and welcome their children into the world through the most peaceful way possible.  Here are some photos from this day.

Irina taught various exercises to help position the baby for birth.

Monica taught how to ride through the waves of contractions by using items like a stability ball or yoga exercises.

Participants also practiced hypnobirthing techniques: using breathing and visualisation to ride out their labor.

Irina spoke about the various types of gentle birthing methods.

Participants were encouraged to bring items that reminded them of their intentions to have the birth they wanted.

They were also given ribbons and other decorations to place on their candles, which they are supposed to put in their sacred spaces.

A big thank you to all our participants for making this day special to us.

A big thank you as well to the wonderful local brands who offered goodies for our participants.
